Trip to Wadi Mistal
The first time I've heard of this wadi is from a Swedish friend who was kidding that i have a wadi in Oman. I started to check from google the exact location and planned to explore the place.
Wadi Mistal and Wakan Village is about 150 kms from Muscat and can be reached from Nakhal by taking the turn to Wadi Mistal on the Nakhal-Awabi road. The paved road continues for a few kilometers before turning to a graded road for another 25 kms before the final accent to Wakan Village .The village sits in a hill which is around 2000 meters above sea level and can only be accessible by a four wheel drive vehicle as the last stretch of the road is quite steep. The agricultural terraces of Wakan village, sited at the source of Wadi Mistal, boast an unforgettable display of white and pink blossom in early Spring.
